Sgt.
Wayne M. Jackson
Sgt.
Wayne M. Jackson has been with the Rockland Police Department
since October of 1980. He was promoted to his current rank
in 1990 and has been assigned to patrol supervision ever since.
He is currently assigned to the 8-4 shift. Sgt. Jackson has been and still is challenged with the development
and implementing of several Department policies and procedures.
Those policies include, but are not limited to, the Rockland
Police Department procedures for the E-911 program, the Criminal
Justice Information System and the Department Manual of Arms
and Funeral Protocol Manual.
Wayne
has an Associate's Degree from Massasoit Community College
and a Bachelor's Degree from Curry College. He has attended
numerous professional seminars on death, dying and grieving,
along with seminars on Line of Duty Deaths.
Sgt.
Jackson is a founding member of the Rockland Police Honor
Guard as well as being the Commanding Officer since 1993.
He is a strong supporter of the COPS organization (Concerns
of Police Survivors), and is the past Volunteer Coordinator for
Mass COPS.
He is a supporter and member of the National
COPS organization. Wayne is a former member of
the Plymouth County Critical
Incident Stress Management
Team.
Wayne
is an extremely strong believer in police honor guards and
their families stating, "Don't forget those families of Law
Enforcement Officers who have lost their
loved ones protecting us. Say a prayer for them, remember
their loved ones and extend a hand to love, help and guide them on their long journey.."
Wayne
was the Project Manager for the Rockland Police Department's
Law Enforcement Memorial, "A
Call to Duty - the Healing touch."
He
is now the Chairman of the Board of the Rockland Police Memorial, along with Board Members Ofc. J. L. Buiel
and Ofc. John T. O'Connor.
Wayne
recently received the coveted J. Edgar Hoover "Police
Officer of the Year" award for 2001, from the Department
of Massachusetts, Veteran's of Foreign Wars. He is also received the Rockland Kiwanis Club "Public Servant
of the Year 2001" award on October 18, 2001.
